This is a ride for the well-conditioned who like to climb hills. We’ll depart Mabton and head up “the grade,” which is about three miles, and regroup at the top (it’s worth riding a few of the grades in our local area for practice prior to heading up this big daddy). Once at the top though, the view is spectacular. We’ll ride some rollers and then the flats past wheat fields into the town of Bickleton where we’ll enjoy some fresh peach cobbler at the general store & café (full restaurant menu available). Headwinds are common about the last 8-10 miles coming into the town. Water, Gatorade and numerous snacks are available at the store. Coming back is fast and fun and worth the climb! Spouses/families welcome to join us for lunch.

Fred Meyer to Wenas Lake & back
Departure Time: 8:00am (tentative)
Pace: 14-17+

From the Fred Meyer/Key Bank parking lot we’ll head to the lake by way of Powerhouse Rd to Gleed, to Old Naches Hwy and then Old Stage Way and Selah-Naches Rd. over the hill. From there we have a couple of options on how to get to North Wenas Rd. which takes us out to the lake via a gentle upgrade. The private RV park has been very gracious in the past and allowed us to use their restrooms, refill water bottles and even let us purchase Gatorade and bottled water from their stash. From the lake we will climb the Naches-Wenas Rd. and drop into Naches (restrooms & drinks available) and head back to Fred Meyer on South Naches Rd. Some folks like to ride from Naches out to the “Y” and then catch-up with the group, a nice little addition if you’re training for STP.
